Phillip Harrington is the new executive officer for the Institute of Arctic Biology. Harrington has worked at UAF for 20 years, most recently as the director of UAF finance and accounting.

"We are excited to have his leadership, expertise, experience and talent in managing research," said IAB Director Brian Barnes.

After graduating from UAF with a bachelor's degree in business administration, Harrington worked as a budget analyst for UA Statewide from 1991 to 1997. After a brief stint as a budget coordinator, he became the executive officer for the Institute of Northern Engineering, which in 2005 became the College of Engineering and Mines. In 2008, he left CEM to take a position as the assistant director for UAF's Financial Services and subsequently became the director of UAF finance and accounting.
