Plan ahead when planning campus events
November 13, 2015
Hosting an event is a great way to show off a campus at this time of year. UAF's Events
Committee helps to ensure that UAF can support gatherings when they are held on any
of our campuses.
Each year, UAF hosts more than 800 events. By filling out the events form, we can determine any special needs or conflicts in advance.
UAF will be celebrating its Centennial in 2017 and there are a number of large events
planned for next year. If you're planning to hold an event at this time, you'll need
to check the space availability.
Here are some tips for creating an event at UAF:
- Determine the goal of your event. How will you determine whether it's successful?
- Appoint an event coordinator.
- Reserve your venue well in advance to ensure the most appropriate space.
- Submit your events form early. It will walk you through several things you may not have considered.
- Attach your floor plan when you submit your form.
- Work orders for tables and chairs and other supplies may need to be submitted to Facilities Services, depending on the venue and your specific needs.
- If you're affiliated with an outside group and you want to reserve space on campus, you'll need to do it as a nonemployee. There may be additional insurance and information needed, depending on the type of event.
University Relations banners, vases and other items departments can borrow for events. If you are planning an event and would like to be added to our lendable library, please send us an email at uaf-events@alaska.edu.
Thank you in advance for helping us to ensure our campus events are safe and successful. Our events team is here to help. If you have questions, please contact Amy Hartley at 907-474-2747.
