Planned telephone services outage
March 7, 2014
UAF Telephone Services will be interrupted on Sunday, March 9 from 8–10 a.m. Telephone
Services staff plans to install emergency power lines and this will cause a power
outage to all telephone lines to and from the Fairbanks campus. However, users should
be able to call from one campus phone to another. This will affect all campus telephone
lines, including circuits going to the Geophysical Institute, Alaska Satellite Facility,
the National Weather Service, Video Conferencing Services audio feed, the University
Bookstore and others.
Phone calls to off-campus locations, local and long distance could be dropped. Short
outages may also occur in the Bowers Building and University Park Building.
In an emergency, please call 911. The outage will not affect the emergency blue-light phones. University Dispatch will
still be available for non-emergencies at 474-7721 by dialing from campus phones.
