Please consider giving to United Way
September 30, 2012
Over the years, UAF employees and students have generously contributed time, talent
and dollars to the United Way of the Tanana Valley to support organizations that provide
important human services in the Fairbanks area. One third of Fairbanks community residents
will need help from a United Way member agency in their lifetime. By supporting the
United Way Community Care Fund, we can make sure help will be there when it’s needed.
The Community Care Fund is distributed among all 20 United Way agencies. These organizations
share ideas and resources to make the community better. We need the community's support
for UAF to succeed, and the community needs UAF's support for it to succeed.
Sherry and I strongly support the United Way — we have already made our annual contribution.
UAF's United Way campaign shows Fairbanks that the university is part of the community
— we give back; we inspire; we are engaged. I encourage every employee to give as
generously as you can. Through the United Way, you may give to any 501(c)(3) organization
of your choice, which includes the UAF/UA Foundation. You decide where your contribution
should go, and you can use payroll deduction to make it simple. This year UAF Human
Resources will distribute the contribution forms.
The United Way of Tanana Valley has set its goal this year to increase the number
of contributors from 2,600 to 3,200. UAF employees can help meet this goal!
Lael and Mark Oldmixon are co-chairs of UAF’s United Way fundraising efforts this
year. Your department will be contacted to set up an agency presentation for your
unit, or you can arrange for a brief presentation from Lael or Mark. Lael can be reached
at 474-6679 or lmoldmixon@alaska.edu; Mark at 474-6027 or mtoldmixon@alaska.edu.
Thank you for all you do for UAF and for the Fairbanks community. Together we can
make a difference!
