Provost search committee established

With the retirement of Provost Susan Henrichs in June, Doug Goering, dean of the College
of Engineering and Mines, has been selected to chair the provost search committee.
The following individuals have agreed to serve as committee members:
Ana Aguilar-Islas, associate professor of chemical oceanography
Obadare Awoleke, assistant professor of petroleum engineering
Uma Bhatt, professor and chair of the Department of Atmospheric Sciences
Syndonia Bret-Harte, associate professor, Institute of Arctic Biology
Pearl Brower, UAF alumna and IỊisaġvik College president
Walkie Charles, assistant professor, Alaska Native Languages Center
LaVerne Demientieff, clinical associate professor, Department of Social Work
Gary Gray, interim vice chancellor, Student Affairs
Mark Herrmann, dean, School of Management
Alexander Hirsch, associate professor of political science
Dawson Mann, ASUAF vice president
Sue Mitchell, public information manager, Geophysical Institute
Mary Pete, CRCD dean and Kuskokwim Campus director
Jennifer Tilbury, associate professor of developmental English
Initial committee meetings will begin this week to discuss the search timeline and
recruiting opportunities, and to establish interview questions. Preliminary and finalist
screenings and interviews will take place in the spring. It is anticipated that a
new provost will be announced by the end of May.
