The University Fire Department and the UAF Police Department staged a two-part live demonstration Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 21 – 22, to illustrate the dangers of drunken driving.

On Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. on the south side of Rasmuson Library, the departments simulated an auto accident. Emergency providers responded and there was increased activity and noise during the demonstration.

On Thursday, from 1 – 2 p.m.  in Constitution Park between the Gruening Building and Constitution Hall, the departments hosted a mock funeral for "victims” of the simulated accident.

The campus and Fairbanks community was invited to attend both events, which were modeled after the national Every 15 Minutes program.  The demonstration was designed to be an educational experience that allows observers to see first-hand the effects of impaired driving.
