Agriculture record-keeping and taxes workshop scheduled

Fairbanks CPAs Paul Robinson and Kelly Ward will lead a workshop Jan. 14 about record keeping and taxes for agricultural businesses.
The workshop will take place in Fairbanks and at videoconference sites in six communities: Delta Junction, Palmer, Homer, Soldotna, Valdez and Kenny Lake. The brown bag workshop will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is sponsored by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service and UAF Community and Technical College.
Robinson and Ward, certified public accountants with Robinson and Associates, will cover the record-keeping requirements of the Internal Revenue Service and tax planning and preparation. Topics will include depreciation rules, the domestic production activities deduction, soil and water conservation expenses, forestation and reforestation costs and the hobby loss rule.

The workshop will be hosted at the Tanana District Extension office at 724 27th Ave., and by videoconference at the Delta Career Advancement Center in Delta Junction, the Matanuska Experiment Farm near Palmer, Room 103 of Kachemak Bay Campus in Homer, 158 Brockel Building at the Kenai River Campus in Soldotna, and at libraries in Valdez and Kenny Lake.
