— by Dan White, chancellor

In April 2020, I announced the departure of then vice chancellor for research, Dr. Larry Hinzman. VCR Hinzman left UAF to serve in a term assignment with the U.S. Department of Energy  in Washington, D.C. Since then, Dr. Nettie La Belle-Hamer has served as the interim VCR.

A little over two weeks ago, we officially launched a nationwide search for our next VCR. The search committee has convened and begun their work. The committee is chaired by Professor Mat Wooller and will meet at the end of June to begin review of applicants in anticipation that interviews and face-to-face campus visits will occur in August after faculty are back on contract. We hope to have the recruitment completed early in the fall, and a permanent VCR appointed at the end of December.

I encourage everyone to share the recruitment posting to ensure an exceptional pool of applicants.

Please look for more details in fall 2021 on the VCR recruitment and planned candidate visits.
