Reed Morisky appointed to fisheries board

February 12, 2013

Cornerstone

Reed Morisky was recently appointed to the Board of Fisheries by Governor Sean Parnell. The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Alaska Legislature. Morisky is a project manager with UAF's Division of Design and Construction. He is also the owner and operator of Wilderness Fishing, a sport fishing guide service based in Fairbanks and Nenana. His appointment was covered in the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.

The Board of Fisheries is responsible for the conservation and development of the state’s fishery resources. This involves setting seasons, bag limits, methods and means for the state’s subsistence, commercial, sport, guided sport, and personal use fisheries, and it also involves setting policy and direction for the management of the state’s fishery resources. The board is charged with making allocation decisions, and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game is responsible for management based on those decisions.
