Regents to address budget, tuition and Strategic Pathways

The University of Alaska Board of Regents will take up a full agenda when it next meets Nov. 10–11 in Fairbanks. Regents will hear final details about the university’s fiscal year 2017 budget request and 10-year capital improvement plan; discuss a 5 percent tuition increase for academic year 2018; take action on Strategic Pathways Phase 1 implementation, including teacher education; continue the conversation about intercollegiate athletics; and review campus scorecards on Title IX.

The board will meet from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Room 109 of the Butrovich Building on the Fairbanks campus. It will host an informal public gathering Nov. 10 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Globe Room, 215 Elvey Building.

During the two-day meeting, the board also will hear presentations on expanding public partnerships and the value and performance of higher education in Alaska. The board will elect new officers and recognize outgoing regent Kenneth J. Fisher with a resolution of appreciation.

Committee meetings will be held prior to the full board meeting:


  •  The Academic and Student Affairs Committee will meet from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3.



  • The Audit Committee will meet from 9-11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 4.
