KUAC’s 18th annual Red Green Regatta will launch Sunday, July 20, from Graehl Park in Fairbanks at 11 a.m. Online advance registration is open now through Thursday, July 17, at noon.

The regatta celebrates the innovative comedy of “The Red Green Show,” which airs Saturdays at 8 p.m. on KUAC TV public broadcasting.

Regatta judges rate watercraft entries on criteria such as the innovative use of the handyman’s secret weapon (duct tape) and integration of the Red Green theme. Judges award boasting rights in categories such as “Best Viewed at a Distance” and “Most Un ‘fathom’ able.” Inventive duct-tape prizes, signed by Red Green himself, were made by KUAC’s student worker Colleen Cleland. The grand prize, valued at nearly $1,500, is supplied by Paddler’s Cove Outfitters.

Online registration fee is $25 per vessel. Registration the day of the event will take place between 9:30 and 11 a.m. at Graehl Park and is $30. Each registration includes an official 2014 Red Green Regatta T-shirt designed by local graphic artist Sue Sprinkle of 5th Avenue Design and Graphics. Additional T-shirts are available at the regatta or in advance for $20 each. Official rules, prize information and liability waiver and registration forms are available at www.kuac.org.
