Over the weekend, multiple university email accounts received a spam email that contained racist statements. The email purported to be from a university employee’s personal Gmail account, and the subject line indicated that it involved a university project.

Several individuals reported the email to OIT. The university employee also reported to OIT, police and Gmail that someone had created a fake Gmail account and was impersonating them online. OIT has blocked the fraudulent email address and reminds employees that if you receive suspicious emails, please immediately report them to OIT at helpdesk@alaska.edu or by calling 907-450-8300.
