Research Day and call for undergraduate abstracts

IMG_8932Celebrate student research at UAF at the 6th annual Research Day on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

  • 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.    Undergraduate poster sessions in the Wood Center multilevel lounge

  • 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.    Open labs and studios campuswide

  • 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.      Undergraduate Research Symposium with free pizza in the Wood Center Ballroom

  • 4 p.m.              Keynote Speaker and awards ceremony in the Wood Center Ballroom. Reception to follow.


Research Day is sponsored by the Vice Chancellor for Research, Undergraduate Research & Scholarly Activity and the Honors Program.All UAF undergraduate students are invited to present their projects on Research Day. See registration details below. Research posters and presentations of creative projects are welcome from every academic discipline. Posters will be displayed in the Wood Center for the entire day. Poster presenters are eligible to win a $100 Dean's Choice award.



To present your project at Research Day, complete the electronic  Research Day Registration Form. You will be directed to Google Apps @ UA. Log in in with your UA username and password. You do not need to request permission to view the form.

For projects with multiple authors or collaborators, only the primary author should submit the registration form. Registration deadline is April 23, 2013.

Register early
Presenters who register by April 2 and submit their pdf poster to ursa.uaf@alaska.edu by April 16 are eligible for free poster printing.
Win an iPad
Send us your poster to be archived in the Institutional Repository at UAF's Rasmuson Library. Register on time and email a pdf of your poster to ursa.uaf@alaska.edu by April 28, and your name will be entered into the drawing to be held on Research Day. (You need not be present to win.)



Symposium
Research Day will include a symposium of spoken presentations from 2 to 4 pm in the Wood Center Ballroom. Symposium presentations will be judged, and prizes will be awarded by the Vice Chancellor for Research. First prize is $1000, second prize is $750, and third prize is $500.



All poster presenters are invited to request to be one of ten speakers at the symposium. To do so, register early and indicate your interest on the Research Day Registration Form (third from the last question.) Speakers will be selected from the pool of early registrants (those who register for Poster Session by April 2).

Graduate & Post-Doctoral Students
Due to space constraints, we cannot accommodate graduate and post-doctoral posters on Research Day, but we invite those researchers and scholars to present their work at the Job & Research Fair September 11-12, 2013.
