Research salon to discuss international scientific collaborations
March 21, 2016
The International Arctic Research Center will host a research salon to discuss international
scientific collaborations from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, in Akasofu
Building 401.
The panelists will be Tatiana Matveeva, of Lomonosov Moscow State University, and
Vladimir Alexeev, Igor Polyakov and Till Baumann, all of whom are with IARC.
The presenters will discuss successes and challenges involved with international collaborations
and how to build and maintain these relationships. They'll use a decade-long international
program, the Nansen and Amundsen Basins Observational System, as an example. IARC
is a leader in the effort, which is documenting climatic changes in Arctic Ocean basins.
The salon will start with presentations by the panelists and end with 30 minutes of
collaborative discussion between the panel and the audience. Coffee and tea will be
served.
The IARC Research Salon Series offers mind-opening intellectual discussions and community-building
interactions moderated by an inspiring IARC member or a visiting scholar.
