The Resilience and Adaptation Program is accepting fellowship applications for the 2016-2017 academic year. Both new and currently enrolled UAF graduate students with an interest in interdisciplinary research that integrates human and natural systems are eligible and encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to students exploring the concepts of resilience, adaptation, transformation or sustainability.

RAP requires all participating students take the following courses (five credits) during their fellowship year: Natural Science Background for Resilience and Adaptation, Economic Background for Resilience and Adaptation, Anthropology Background for Resilience and Adaptation, Resilience Seminar 1 and Resilience Seminar 2. An additional seven credits of interdisciplinary coursework are required during the student's graduate career to complete the program. Many UAF courses qualify as interdisciplinary and will soon be available on a dynamic and evolving course list. Credit can be given for interdisciplinary courses already taken.

RAP fellowship recipients receive stipend funding for one academic year ($18,000 for master's degree students and $19,500 for doctoral students), tuition and the opportunity to compete for travel awards. Frequent internship opportunities result from RAP's collaborations with university programs, state and federal agencies, nongovernmental organizations, and tribes.

The application and more information about the program can be found at http://www.uaf.edu/rap/. Please feel free to contact staff with questions.
