Responsible research conduct workshop offered
July 13, 2017
Student researchers and others can take the Responsible Conduct in Research training
workshop from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 26 in Fairbanks.
Preregister by Aug. 16. Space is limited to 30. Individuals affiliated with the University of
Alaska Fairbanks, the University of Alaska Southeast and Ilisagvik College are eligible.
The workshop fulfills National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health
requirements for formal research conduct instruction. This is the only such training
at UAF this semester.
The NIH requires research conduct training for everyone working on the projects it
funds. That includes students participating in the Biomedical Learning and Student
Training program as scholars, graduate mentoring research assistants and undergraduate
research experience awardees.
The training uses discussions and case studies to examine basic ethical and regulatory
requirements for conducting research. Participants must attend all modules presented,
participate in workshop discussions and complete an online training. A certificate
will be issued to all participants upon successful course completion.
