Rhonda Pitka: Inspired by family
October 25, 2016
"A lot of it has to do with my grandmother. She was a teacher aide in Beaver School
for twenty-five years and she only had a third grade education. She was able to save
money and buy boats and four wheelers and own a home and do all these things on a
third grade education. So she told me, 'You know you’re going to school. It’s so much
easier for you. You can do this. You need to do this. You need to go to school and
you need to get your education.' So she’s always inspired me. I think just like,
the strength of the women in my life has always been really, really motivational for
me because they’re really tough. I mean they’ve had challenges in their own lives
that they’ve been able to get over; to move on from. They’ve faced some really challenging
social issues."
