Head coach Dan Jordan has announced the UAF rifle program will host the fifth annual Nanook Clay Classic, presented by Frontier Outfitters, on Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Fairbanks Trap Club, located on the corner of Hagelbarger Ave., and Old Steese Hwy.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., and the first shots will be fired at 10 a.m.
To participate, the fee is $100 for individuals and $500 for a team of five. Individuals will be grouped together with other individuals to make up a full team. This year's competition will be capped at 40 people (five teams). All proceeds from this event will directly go to benefit the Alaska rifle team.
"It's been a great success and getting bigger and bigger every year," Jordan said. "There's a lot of support from community businesses making it a big success for the team. It's a lot of fun and good prep for duck and goose hunting season."
The course of fire will include 50 shots of 16-yard singles (two rounds), 10 pairs or 20 shots of doubles and 25 shots of wobble. Following the competition, there will be fun shoots with the longest shot and Annie Oakley.
To register for the event, you can download the registration form attached and return it via e-mail or in person at the Patty Center. You may also register online at the provided linkhere. Coach Jordan also welcomes first timers looking to learn as well!
