Ron Dupee memorial service scheduled
January 7, 2013
The UAF community lost a longtime colleague and friend this month. Ron Dupee, who served the university for 17 years, passed away recently after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ron's time at the university has been marked by exceptional service. For the past three years, he has served as supervisor of the university’s housing shop. Last year, I selected him as the 2012 recipient of the Chancellor's Cornerstone Award. He was known throughout campus not only for his strong work ethic, but also for his warmth, kindness and compassion.
Our sincere condolences go out to Ron's wife and longtime UA employee Betty Dupee, as well as his three children, extended family and friends. Ron's presence on our campus will be sorely missed.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. in the Wood Center Ballroom. In the meantime, the Facilities Services Customer Service Center is collecting donations to help Ron's family with expenses.
I also want to remind you that you have access to free grief support and counseling through our Employee Assistance Program. Please call 1-866-465-8934, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Employees can also contact the EAP and enter the company web ID: GC5901Q. First-time users will need to create an account.
