Rural transportation institute coming in June

Two University of Alaska Fairbanks centers will hold a Summer Transportation Institute
from June 8-12 in Fairbanks.
The Center for Environmentally Sustainable Transportation in Cold Climates and the
Alaska Tribal Technical Assistance Program Center will host the institute.
The five-day training workshop will offer lectures, lab tours and field trips relevant
to transportation infrastructure in cold, rural environments. Some featured lectures
include "Sustainability in Transportation Infrastructure," "Soil Basics and Geotechnical
Engineering," "Pavement Preservation," "Gravel Road Design" and "Dust Control Practice."
The program is free. Training certificates and professional development hours will
