Registration opens for Week of the Arctic events
February 1, 2017
Registration is now open for Week of the Arctic events in Fairbanks and in Anchorage.
The U.S. chairmanship of the Arctic Council will conclude with a ministerial meeting
in Fairbanks on May 11, 2017. Those attending will celebrate the accomplishments under U.S.
chairmanship and observe the transition to Finland.
Attendees will include representatives from the eight Arctic nations, the six permanent
participants, and the observer states and organizations, as well as task force and
working chairs.
The Alaska Arctic Council Host Committee, working in close cooperation with community
partners, will convene a Week of the Arctic before and after the ministerial meeting.
Activities in Fairbanks and Anchorage will provide outreach and education opportunities
for participants and interested Arctic stakeholders.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks, in cooperation with the host committee, will hold
a number of presentations, workshops, receptions and facilitated policy discussions
designed to highlight the key themes and accomplishments of the Arctic Council and
broader Arctic efforts.
