The University of Alaska Fairbanks School of Management is offering two new undergraduate
degrees starting this fall.
The Bachelor of Applied Management (BAM) degree offers students with degrees or certificates
an opportunity to develop their management skills. The BAM degree is for students
who have technical hands-on degrees or certificates in fields like automotive technology,
culinary arts, hospitality, health care, aviation, welding and others. The degree
is designed to help students perform better in their current jobs, pursue management-track
career opportunities or launch their own business.
The Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Business (BSRB) degree is designed for students
interested in pursuing careers in sport, recreation and tourism. The degree emphasizes
critical business skills including accounting, marketing, management, economics and
finance. The BSRB degree is designed to prepare students for managerial positions
in professional sports, fitness clubs, athletics equipment merchandising, tourism,
and intramural and recreational sports.
“UAF enrollment is experiencing signs of growth and it is because of programs like
BAM and BSRB that provide graduates with the necessary skills for today’s workforce,”
said Chancellor Daniel M. White. “These key programs offer unique opportunities for
UAF resident and online students.”
SOM will waive the $50 application fee, as well as the $25 late application fee, for
the first 100 students to apply to either of these new programs for the 2018-19 academic
year. Students may use the waiver code UAFBAM2018 for the BAM degree or UAFBSRB2018
for the BSRB degree when applying to take advantage of this offer.
