Science Pub: 'Predicting fire seasons in Alaska’s changing climate'
April 11, 2019
University Relations
It’s no easy task to forecast fire activity across a whole summer, and climate change
can throw a proverbial monkey wrench into the works. But that’s not stopping researchers
like Uma Bhatt, professor of atmospheric science. Grab a beer and join Bhatt at the
Pub for an engaging presentation and discussion about the ways scientists predict
fire seasons and about how they’re adding changing climate to the mix.
This event will take place Wednesday, April 17, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. There is no cover
charge but participants must be 21 or older to enter the Pub.
This is the first in a series of Science Pubs and Cafes, sponsored by the Alaska NSF
EPSCoR program, which will feature UA scientists informally discussing their research
in casual settings.
