Sending mail

I saw a very frustrated international student at the post office the other day. She wanted to mail a package and was only met with a machine that read permanently out of order. How long is this machine going to sit there that is of no use what so ever? And what are our students living on campus supposed to do when they have a package to mail? Its not exactly easy for a student with no car to get to a post office in the middle of the school day.
