The University of Alaska Museum of the North is exploring bears at hands-on programs during the month of September.
At Family Day: Bears, from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, visitors can learn about Alaska’s bears. There is no admission fee for children 14 and under at Family Days, thanks to support from TOTE Maritime.
Families are invited to drop in with children five and under at Early Explorers each Friday from 10 a.m.-noon. On Saturday, Sept. 16, children 6 and older are invited to Junior Curators to learn about bears. Teen Studio on Saturday, Sept. 30, offers an opportunity for young adults ages 13-18 to see specimens and discover the secrets of Otto Bear, the museum’s iconic specimen.
