Short-term parking price increases; perpetual permits offered
June 23, 2015
After conducting a survey on parking and shuttle issues this spring, the university decided to increase the price of permits to park on campus for a day, week or month. Day permits, originally $3, will increase to $5 on July 1, 2015. The $15 weekly permit will increase to $20, and the $26 monthly permit will increase to $35. The blue kiosks will updated soon.

Long-term permits available in test program
The Office of the Bursar will offer a new perpetual parking permit this fall semester to full-time staff and faculty — and anyone else who wants to purchase a year-round regular permit.
The perpetual permit will not expire annually. Rather, it will be renewed automatically each year unless you ask that it not be. Interested individuals can purchase the perpetual permit with a payroll deduction of $50 per pay period until the permit is paid. A similar long-term gold permit will be offered to full-time faculty and staff who are already gold permit holders.
Below are answers to some likely questions:
Why can’t I pay for the permit with my credit card?
We limit payment to payroll deductions to avoid the need to contact every person annually. With payroll deduction, we only need the initial information. We can update it annually through Human Resources.
Why can’t I purchase a long-term permit if I am a student or a part-time or 9-month employee?
We may be able to offer a long-term permit in the future that would work for part-time and 9-month employees and students, but this is a pilot program to determine the interest level.
How do I stop the payroll deduction?
Bring your permit to the Bursar’s Office and request termination of the payroll deduction. You can also send the request by email, but we will not be able to process the request until we have received the permit.
What if I lose or destroy the permit?
Come to the office to pick up a $5 replacement permit and fill out a reporting form.
How does enforcement work?
The permit will have a specific number that officers can be look up in their handheld devices. The permit number will cover all vehicles attached to it. Contact the Office of the Bursar to attach vehicles or remove them.
What if I get a new car?
You can register your vehicle online and then call the Bursar’s Office to have the vehicle attached to your permit.
How many vehicles can I put on a single permit?
Up to four.
