Simon Fraser set three pool records and won nine of 11 events en route to a 124-77 victory against Alaska in a PCSC dual meet on Friday evening at the Patty Center Pool.

The Clan (7-1) reset the record books in both relays and one individual race to set the pace. They opened the meet with a victory in the 400 medley relay. The tandem of Kristine Lawson, Courtney Triano, Alexandria Schofield and Nicole Cossey turned in a time of three minutes, 57.68 seconds, breaking the previous record of 4:00.57 by Fresno Pacific last season.

Taking runner-up in the opening race was Alaska's team of junior Bente Heller (Hamburg, Germany/Psychology), senior Sarah Meierotto (Fairbanks, Alaska/Biology) and sophomores Margot Adams (Anchorage, Alaska/Political science) and Danielle Lyons (Prince Albert, Saskatchewan/Biological sciences) with a time of 4:04.07.

In the final race of the night, which was arguably the most exciting one, SFU set a new pool mark in the 800 freestyle relay. The foursome of Schofield, Carmen Nam, Cossey andMeghan Quon hit the wall in 7:45.15, besting Alaska's team of Lyons, Adams, sophomore Gabi Summers (Cheyenne, Wyo./Wildlife Biology and Conservation) and Heller, which was second in 7:46.42. Both times were better than the previous record of 7:56.85, set by the Nanooks (3-4) back on Oct. 26, 2012.

Individually, Quon tied the Patty Center Pool best in the 500 freestyle. She completed the 20-lap race in 5:09.47, winning the event by nearly seven seconds and matching Drury's Erin Dolan, who turned in the identical time back in 2008. She also won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.29, edging her teammate, Schofield, who clocked a time of 1:57.51.

Other individual winners for the Clan included Nam (1000 free), Katie McEvoy (200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke), Cossey (100 free) and Lawson (100 backstroke).

Heller and Adams each won an individual event for the Nanooks. Heller hit the wall in 24.46 seconds in the 50 free, which was .32 seconds off her pool-record pace. Adams claimed the 100 butterfly fairly handedly, with a time of 56.92, winning the event by over three seconds.

The Nanooks also turned in two individual runner-up finishes and six thirds. Freshman McKinley Wallace (Anchorage, Alaska) was second in the 1,000 free (11:36.60) and third in the 500 free (5:445.02) while Summers took second in the 500 (5:16.15).

The teams return to the pool Saturday at noon and admission is free to all spectators. If you can't make it to campus, the meet will be streamed live on Stretch Internet.
