Representatives of Finnish manufacturer Volter will offer a presentation Tuesday, Sept. 20, at UAF about their pioneering work in small biomass-fueled power and heat systems.

Volter has installed such systems around the world, including at its headquarters at Finland’s Kempele Ecovillage. Since 2009, the Ecovillage unit has used locally harvested wood chips to produce electricity and heat for a small microgrid serving 10 houses.

The presentation will be from noon-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in the large conference room at Lola Tilly Commons. Email mefrey@alaska.edu to attend via WebEx. Download a flier for the event here.

The event is sponsored by the UAF Alaska Center for Energy and Power and the Fairbanks North Star Borough.
