SMART students reach for new heights
June 17, 2011
Counselors keep a keen eye on the safety lines while students enrolled in UAF's SMART Academy take turns on the climbing wall in the Student Recreation Center. The four-week program for middle-school kids consists of academic courses in the morning and athletic endeavors each afternoon.
The SMART Academy is funded in part by a Workforce Investment Act grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration and the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development through the UA Office of Academic Affairs' Workforce Programs.
