Do you know of any outstanding teens in Alaska? Nominations for the Spirit of Youth Awards are open through Tuesday, Dec. 3. There are several categories, including groups. Perhaps you work with a group or individual who deserves some recognition and possibly a scholarship?

The University of Alaska College Savings Plan partners with Spirit of Youth and KTUU-TV to support outstanding Alaska youth and share their stories. KTUU’s Channel 2 News features Spirit of Youth nominees monthly during the school year as part of its ongoing “Spotlight on Youth” series.

Nominees are eligible to be selected for the Spirit of Youth Award each year. Eight nominees are chosen by the Spirit of Youth Teen Advisory Council to receive the award. Individual award recipients receive a scholarship from the UA College Savings Plan of at least $2,000, and eight runners-up each receive a $500 scholarship. Group recipients receive a grant to support their efforts.
