UAF's Alternative Spring Break program has wrapped up another successful trip. Fourteen students traveled to the U.S. Virgin Islands to do service work during their spring break. In addition to the week of service, the students raised over $30,000 to fund the trip.

In 2017 the U.S. Virgin Islands were hit hard by two major hurricanes and are still recovering. The AB team worked with the St. Thomas Recovery Team to remodel an entire home in four days. In addition, they spent a day working in St. John doing trail maintenance for the Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park.

In the words of one AB participant, "My highlight from the service week was exceeding everyone's expectations. Their astonishment and gratitude were more than what I could've asked for. I'm humbled to know that I've made a change in someone's life and created a ripple in the community of St. Thomas."
