Spruce beetle workshops offered in Southcentral

Workshops about managing spruce beetle damage and protecting the health of spruce trees will be offered in Big Lake and Talkeetna in the next two weeks.

The Alaska Division of Forestry and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will host the free workshop from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 12 at Big Lake Public Library and again from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 at Talkeetna Elementary School.

Agency representatives will discuss the recent increase in spruce beetle activity in the Mat-Su Valley and what landowners can do to limit spruce beetle impacts on their property.
