Staff Recognition and Development Day

Staff members were celebrated, honored, educated and inspired during the 2019 Staff Recognition and Development Day. The May 8 event honored Sandra Long from Bristol Bay Campus (Chancellor's Cornerstone Award) and Billie Chavez from Kuskokwim Campus (Peggy Wood Award). It also recognized nearly 170 employees who have been continuously employed at UAF for five, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 35 years.

Mark Oldmixon (Nanook Recreation) and Valerie Gifford (School of Education) gave a presentation on wellness, and local business owner Geoff Welch gave a talk on personal leadership.
SRDD is organized by volunteer staff members. The 2019 committee included:

Carla Browning (University Relations) emceed the ceremony, and Ryan Keele and the Wood Center staff were instrumental in coordinating the ballroom. Dining Services provided the lunch buffet and ice cream.
