Stalder named Community and Technical College dean

University of Alaska Fairbanks alumna and longtime administrator Michele Stalder has been tapped as the new dean of the UAF Community and Technical College.
Stalder has worked in higher education for more than three decades. She began her career at the former Tanana Valley Community College and served on the transition team when the community college merged with the university in 1988.
“CTC has been my professional home for more than 30 years,” Stalder said. “I know first-hand how dedicated our faculty and staff are to the success of our students and I am proud to serve as the leader of such an excellent team.”
During her tenure at CTC, Stalder has been involved in the development of many new programs at UAF, including CTC’s law enforcement and process technology programs. Her work has been instrumental in forging partnerships with school districts, state agencies and industry across the State of Alaska. In addition, she is known for her leadership and dedication to student services in higher education. She was recognized in 2001 as the UAF recipient of the UA President’s “Make Students Count” award.
UAF’s Community and Technical College offers 40 one-year certificate and two-year associate degree and specialized training programs and serves over 3,000 students every semester. With its community college mission, CTC serves the needs of a diverse student population, including first-generation college attendees, traditional and nontraditional students, military students and those seeking job training.
