Starvation Gulch 2018 takes place this Saturday, Sept. 22. The tradition began in 1923, and symbolizes the passing of knowledge to incoming students. This year's bonfires will be lit in Nenana parking lot at 9 p.m. UAF community members are welcome to attend this free event.

From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, five teams will build this year's bonfire structures in the Nenana lot. This year's teams include ASUAF, Chi Alpha, the UAF Fire Department, the College of Engineering and Mines, and Residence Life. Everyone is welcome to watch!

The bonfires will be lit at 9 p.m. on Saturday. DJ 50/50 will perform throughout the event, and numerous student organizations will host booths with food and games. If you attend the bonfires, please note that this is a drug- and alcohol free event, and dogs will not be permitted at the event.
