The leader training offered by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in  the University Park Building at 1000 University Ave. Participants will learn how to lead StrongWomen or StrongSenior classes that provide balance and strength training for middle-aged and older adults. The program, which originated at Tufts University, promotes strength, muscle mass and bone density.

The training will be offered by Fairbanks agent Leslie Shallcross and by videoconference with Linda Tannehill, of Soldotna, who has trained more than 300 community instructors in Alaska. Cooperative Extension offers the program in 35 states. The class costs $100. Registration and more details are available at http://bit.ly/2YjVgZA.
