UAF student firefighters traveled (at their own expense) to Seattle Saturday, March
9- 11 of our to compete in the Seattle Stair Climb Challenge. The competition involves
running, in full firefighting gear including air tank, up the 1,311 steps or 69 flights
of the Bank of America Columbia Tower. Students raised $10,623.21 in pledges to the
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They prepared by running the steps of Bartlett Hall
with the assistance of Laura McCollough. Our fastest student finished 120th place
out of 1,341 firefighters from all over the United States. This is the second year
we have sent a team to compete.
