Student services and advancement at the University of Alaska Fairbanks have merged, creating a new unit that encompasses recruitment and marketing, student life and records, alumni, athletics, KUAC, fundraising and public relations.

Mike Sfraga, who formerly led the student services unit, will serve as the new vice chancellor for university and student advancement. In addition to overseeing all of student services, he will oversee the units that were led by vice chancellor Jake Poole, who retired at the end of June. Kris Racina, who was most recently UAF’s human resources director, will serve as associate vice chancellor of the new unit: University and Student Advancement.

The new organization addresses some of the recommendations made in the 2009 MacTaggart Report, including the reduction of one vice chancellor position and the alignment of student recruitment, marketing, alumni relations and fundraising.
