Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

September 2, 2020

Tori Tragis

Throughout September, the Student Health and Counseling Center will dedicate its social media efforts toward raising awareness around suicide and suicide prevention. If you or someone you know is struggling, you can reach out to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 (TALK).

In these times of pandemic, some of the signs that someone is struggling may look different. Have you noticed any of these in yourself or a friend?

1. No longer responding to calls and texts.

2. Changes in tone or language when talking, texting, or posting online.

3. Changes in the frequency and type of content shared online.

4. Changes in energy levels or appetite.

5. Increased use of drugs or alcohol.

If so, please reach out. We are here for you. The Student Health and Counseling Center is your confidential resource on campus. Call 474-7043 to get connected with one of our professional counselors. You can also go online anonymously through UAF's interactive screening program.
