Taniesha Moses has joined Rural Student Services as an Indigenous wellness outreach coordinator. Moses is Upper Tanana Athabascan and was raised in Northway, Alaska. She is the daughter of Sharon Emry, and her grandparents are Rosa and Dale Brewer. She has three children, Avery, August and Aspen, in Fairbanks, where she currently resides with her husband, Conrad Moses.

"Seven years ago when I decided to go back to school, Rural Student Services provided vital support to me in various ways as I experienced obstacles in my educational journey," Moses said. "I am excited to be in a role where I can now return that support to other students by encouraging wellness from an indigenous perspective as they pursue their academic dreams."

In addition to her role as wellness coordinator, Moses will be teaching RD F100 this fall and assisting with the ANS F251 and ANS F351 practicum in Alaska Native cultural expression, also known as "the Festival class" because of its ties to the Festival of Native Arts. Moses has been through the RSS program as a student at UAF, where she earned her A.A.S. degree in human services and recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work.

She will serve as the staff advisor for several student organizations sponsored through RSS and the Department of Alaska Native Studies and Rural Development such as the Alaska Native Social Workers Association and Festival of Native Arts Club. Moses will work toward connecting students to university wellness activities, and she'll work with other UAF departments and Alaska Native community organizations to develop an Indigenous wellness program model at UAF.

In her free time, Moses enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids, creative projects, hiking, and listening to podcasts.
