Teaching Tip: Finding and resizing free images
April 28, 2015
There are at least two great ways to search for images you can use in your course
materials (or homework):
- Google Images search:
- Website repositories of graphics labeled for commercial or noncommercial reuse:
- Pixabay (choose the smaller sizes!)
- Flickr Creative Commons
- Stockvault
- EveryStockPhoto.com
- Wikimedia Commons
Once you’ve acquired the images, you may need to resize them. Here are some handy tools:
- SumoPaint (try online or download)
- Pic Monkey (follow the ‘no registration needed, edit for free’ link)
- Pic Resize
- Even faster? http://picresize.com/plugins.php bookmarklet for your browser (if you use them; if not, do not go down this rabbit trail!)
