The Downtown Association of Fairbanks seeks proposals by digital artists in the Fairbanks community for The Window Project, a new public art project under the multi-year initiative titled "Art in the Heart."

Selected artwork will be printed on vinyl wraps to fully cover the exterior windows of vacant spaces in downtown Fairbanks, in an effort to re-activate these spaces and encourage community dialogue and thought on their potential. One artist will be assigned to illustrate the windows of each vacant property or space.

All artwork will be centered on the theme of EDGE, a word that can be both abstract and literal with multiple definitions. This public art project will prompt notice of spaces that are available to rent in downtown Fairbanks while doubling as an art exhibit making productive use of an inactive urban canvas. The project’s installations will be open and accessible to all.

Three prizes will be awarded to the top artists exhibited in the project, as determined by public vote. The first, second and third place finishers will receive a cash prize of $700, $450 and $300, respectively.

Artists may review a Request for Proposals with full project details and submit designs through this online form. There is a $20 application fee for the project (payable through credit card, cash or check), and artists may submit up to three designs per application.
