UAF Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity director and Title IX coordinator
The University of Alaska Board of Regents' policy is being updated to comply with Title IX. Here is a brief overview of steps taken to date:
- On Feb. 17, President Johnsen issued a charge to the Statewide Title IX Committee to revise policies 04.02, 04.07, 04.08 and 09.02 to meet federal compliance.
- On Feb. 25-26, representatives for campuses across the UA system met in Fairbanks to evaluate and provide suggestions for policy revision. The recommended best course of action was to expand policy 01.02.020 to one policy governing all response to discrimination, discriminatory harassment and sexual misconduct. The team finalized the recommended changes to 04.02, 04.07, 04.08 and 09.02.
- On March 3-4, Title IX coordinators from all three universities met and completed editing to policy 01.02.
- During the week of March 7-11, campus constituents were briefed on the proposed changes.
- Policies with tracked changes and justifications are now posted on the UAF Diversity and Equal Opportunity website at http://uaf.edu/oeo/policy-review/.
Here is an overview of future steps:
- Finalized policies are due to President Johnsen the first of April.
- Community members may review and submit comments to uaf-deo@alaska.edu no later than 10 a.m. on March 28.
