UA Press to temporarily reduce operations

June 2, 2020

Tori Tragis

The University of Alaska Press is temporarily suspending its book project acquisitions and development functions. The suspension will last 12 months, effective July 1. The onset of COVID-19, especially its secondary consequences for the Alaska tourism industry and trade book sales, have had strong adverse effects for UA Press revenues.

The press will focus its immediate efforts on contracted book projects and collaborations. The UA Press website, as well as its new Rasmuson Library office and book shop locations, will be open.

UA Press staff are committed to developing a strong and innovative vision for what a small, creative, 21st-century university press can be, and we are working to build that organization. UA Press is grateful for and inspired by its lasting, committed, broad community of stakeholders. If you have thoughts for a new vision for  UA Press, please email Director Nate Bauer at nate.bauer@alaska.edu.
