University of Alaska employees Lydia Anderson, Joseph Altman, Margie Thomson and Sheila Randazzo received this year’s Staff Make Students Count awards. They were recognized at the most recent UA Board of Regents meeting, held June 3-5 in Fairbanks.

The Staff Make Students Count Award, established in the spring of 1999, recognizes university staff members who have provided outstanding service to students anywhere in the UA system, including rural campuses and extended sites. Service to students may include service as part of the job or as volunteer service, either directly or indirectly to current or prospective students.

Anderson is the retiring director of Wood Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Altman is system governance coordinator for the UA system in Fairbanks. Thomson is a counselor at UA Southeast. Randazzo is an advisor at UA Anchorage.

Each recipient received an award plaque, $1,000 and two domestic airline vouchers.
