Chinese opera film to be screened
March 28, 2017
A Chinese opera film, "The Legend of the White Snake," will be shown at 1:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 9, at the Pioneer Park theater.
The film is part of a series of annual presentations by UAF's Chinese language, Eastern
philosophy and Asian studies programs.
"The Legend of the White Snake" is a love story passed down for generations in China.
The film features unique and highly skilled artistry in dramatic presentation and
various forms of Chinese martial arts, including sword play.
There will be a short introduction to the film, then a discussion afterward.
Past films have been shown at the Noel Wien Library, but this year the venue has been
changed to Pioneer Park. Entry is free.
For more information, contact Rosalind Kan, adjunct lecturer in Chinese language,
at 474-0928, or Walter Benesch, professor emeritus of philosophy, at 479-2386.
