UAF events feature Yup’ik, glaciers, music, hearing health

University of Alaska Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more
than 40 free lectures, concerts and other events this summer. Here is what’s happening
during the week ahead:
- On Monday, June 20, The Magical Mondays hands-on learning series will present “Yup’ik in a Flash,” an introduction to the indigenous language led by UAF professor Walkie Charles. The program begins at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium and atrium.
- On Tuesday, June 21, the Healthy Living lecture series features audiologist Dr. Steven Lewis discussing “The Invisible Disability.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
- On Wednesday, June 22, the Discover Alaska series will present UAF geophysics professor Regine Hock discussing “Alaska’s Disappearing Glaciers: How does it affect us?” The lecture is at 7 p.m. at the Murie Building auditorium.
- On Thursday, June 23, the Music in the Garden concert series will host the Rock Bottom Stompers, playing soulful, stompable tunes and sweet lonesome harmonies. The music begins at 7 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
