UAF hosting Arctic research open house

West Ridge of the UAF campus Seventeen UAF research facilities will showcase their work next week during the UAF Arctic research open house. The free event will take place on UAF’s West Ridge, located along Koyukuk Drive, on Thursday, May 30, from 4-7 p.m.

Meet a live reindeer, touch 30,000-year-old permafrost, try out a green screen, listen to Alaska science stories from the inside of an Arctic Oven tent, meet weather and climate experts, and even play with puppies.

Visitors can walk among numerous facilities to learn about current projects and meet scientists in climate science, geoscience, natural resources, social sciences and engineering. Children and students are encouraged to attend this interactive event.

Parking is free. Light refreshments will be provided and food will be available for purchase from the Blue Flame Street Side food truck.
