UAF police chief, staff raise awareness for domestic violence

UAF Police Chief Keith Mallard and members of the UAF Police Department are joining
other Fairbanks law enforcement officers to walk a mile in high heels to raise awareness
about domestic violence and sexual assault. The “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event takes
place takes place on Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. in the Sadler's Home Furnishings
parking lot, 610 Cushman Street.
This is the first year the UAF Police Department has participated in the national
awareness-building event, which also has events planned in Anchorage and Juneau the
same day. This event presents opportunities for people to talk about gender-based
violence and prevention.
Chief Mallard plans to wear black and purple suede heels for the event.
