UAF protects university-generated intellectual property

The University of Alaska Fairbanks supports the creation of new works and inventions by faculty, staff and students by offering assistance with patents, copyright and trademarks.

The Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization protects inventions and software through patent and/or copyright protection that gives the university the sole right to commercialize the product. For more information on protecting inventions or software, please contact the Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization at 474-2605.

The Rasmuson Library can assist faculty with copyright questions about their original works of authorship such as poems, movies, plays, photographs or architectural designs. For more information on retaining your copyright to creative works, please contact Karen Jensen, Collection Development Officer at the Rasmuson Library at 474-6695.

The Auxiliary, Recharge and Contract Operations Office handles use of the Nanook and University of Alaska Fairbanks logos on goods and services already in commercial use. For more information about using the UAF or Nanook trademarks, please call 474-6661.
